Making its world premiere at the Venice film Festival five days ago, the Lancia Musa facelift makes its public debut at Frankfurt in 1 week. First launched in 2004 this midlife facelift for the premium level compact receives a revised front bumper fascia with new chrome moldings and new Lancia logo emblem for the chrome grille. New wheels are added and the body side moldings get chrome inserts. But the biggest change is to the rear section of the vehicle with new LED rear lamps and a luggage compartment which is 70 liters larger while the loading deck has been lowered by 4cm for easier access. The new Musa also gets quieter with new sound-proofing in the headliner which reduces noise by a noticeable 2db. Five engines are available including 100 bhp 1.9 Multijet, 70 bhp 1.3 Multijet and 90 bhp 1.3 Multijet turbodiesel units, in addition to two petrol units, a 77 bhp 1.4 and 95 bhp 1.4, with either mechanical or DFN robotised sequential gearboxes (depending on the engine).

Lancia will be present at the Frankfurt Motor Show with a stand full of stylistic and architectural appeal, in shades of black and white. The display area has been designed to embrace the public, offering them over 900 m2 in which to admire the latest automotive novelties and experience the emotions that are the brand’s hallmark.
The absolute star of the stand is the New Musa which makes its first public appearance at an international motor show. Two Musa Platinos are on display with two different engines, the 100 bhp 1.9 Multijet and the 90 bhp 1.3 Multijet with DPF. The first version has Masaccio Black paintwork with leather and Alcantara® Starlite upholstery, while the second features a two-tone body (Peyrano and Rouge) combined with Chocolate upholstery in leather and Alcantara® Starlite. Both cars are lavishly equipped: in the safety field, for example, they feature an ESP system, 6 airbags, foglights, the Blue&Me® system and TPMS (Tyre Pressure Monitoring System); where comfort is concerned, they are offered with automatic dual-zone climate control, cruise control, satellite navigation, parking sensors, radio controls on the steering wheel and electrical rear windows. And finally, the two new Musa Platino sport 16” alloys, a leather-covered steering wheel and gear lever knob with contrasting stitching and the GranLuce sunroof.
The display is completed by a car equipped with the 95 bhp 1.4 16v engine, with a DFN (‘Dolce Far Niente’) robotised gearbox in the Oro specification, and the following safety features: 6 airbags, ESP, TPMS, foglights and the Blue&Me® system. The attention paid to occupant comfort is underlined by the dual-zone automatic climate system, cruise control, a radio with CD and MP3 file player, parking sensors, radio controls on the steering wheel and electric rear side windows. Perfectly in line with the new approach adopted at the front, the generously sized hatch is today an even more important feature providing two substantial improvements over the previous model. First, the luggage compartment is 70 litres larger while the loading deck has been lowered by 4 centimetres, making it easier to stow bags and suitcases. And again at the rear, the New Musa boasts new technological LED lights that, compared to traditional bulb-lit units, are more luminous and therefore safer, apart from aesthetic considerations.
Lastly, in addition to being enhanced by brand-new alloy wheels, the extremely elegant, clean-lined side surfaces have a new chromed moulding in which the outstanding feature is the Lancia logo mounted as if it were a real gemstone. The rounded lines and non-angular shape emphasise the cabin's friendly, protective nature, a ‘shrine’ promising safety and maximum comfort despite its compact size: it is only just over 4 metres long, 1.70 metres wide, 1.66 metres in height and with a wheelbase of 2.51 metres. So even though it is now longer, the New Musa is still a compact car outside, but with all the space of a flagship model inside.
In line with that unmistakable Lancia style seen in recent years, the New Musa offers drivers and passengers an environment marked by a combination of emotion and functionality, thanks to the modular seats that can be adjusted to suit many different positions.
